But Then God
Have you ever planned your hunting season to go a certain way, or maybe your marriage to feel different, maybe it’s your job or your family life that you pictured being a particular way but then God had different plans for you? This Christmas season I want to take a short look at a snippet in the life of Joseph.
Matthew 1:18-20 says “This is how the birth of Jesus came about: His mother, Mary was pledged to marry Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But then God sent an angel appearing to him in a dream…”
Did you catch that? Joseph “HAD IN MIND” to do something. He had made his own plans as to what he thought was best. Joseph made plans before consulting God. Joseph was planning to divorce her quietly, “BUT THEN GOD”.
God has a way of doing that. His plans for us, don’t always look like what we thought they were going to be. But as Christians we need to trust that the God of this universe has a divine plan for each one of us.
If life seems to be kicking you in the teeth, trust that your “BUT THEN GOD” moment is just around the corner, where he shows you why life isn’t going the way you pictured.
God had a plan in mind for a carpenter that was planning on divorcing his fiancé, but God altered those plans to change the entire world. If God changes your plans this Christmas season or you feel like things aren’t going the way you pictured them, be confident that God can use any situation and any person to bring glory to his kingdom. Jesus is our eternal hope.
